2010 Texas Writers Competition – Winning Entries

Every year since 2000, the Haltom City Public Library, in Haltom City, Texas, sponsors “The Texas Writers Competition.”  This contest, with age groups from 1st grade through adult, has two categories – Poetry and Short Story.   The Competition draws entries from throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and from as far away as, this year, Austin and Odessa.  The poetry and short stories are varied as to subject matter and skill level but all are entertaining and thought-provoking.  To sample the winning entries from 2010, including my own piece, “Seventy Minutes”, click on the link below.  Be careful!  You might actually enjoy the read!
