The NHL off-season has been very busy with trades and free agent signings and the latest rumor going around the league is that Ales Hemsky is on the trading block.
The Edmonton Oilers have been on a youth movement over the past couple seasons and Hemsky could give the team more young talent. The Oilers have been looking to unload the winger who is in the last year of his contract and the Columbus Blue Jackets have shown interest.
With two shoulder surgeries in his career, Edmonton will need to make sure about his health before making a final decision, but when healthy, Hemsky would be a great addition to Columbus.
Hemsky recently told the press, “I wouldn’t mind it at all. I don’t like change, looking for new stuff. I’ve met lots of great people in Edmonton. I’ve got friends. I’ve got a girlfriend living with me. I can’t complain.”
Hemsky is one of a few veterans whose name has come up in recent trade talks. With the off-season entering its second week, look for a few more deals to be made before training camps start across the NHL.
