With NHL training camps just a couple of weeks from starting, several trade rumors have surfaced and one of the biggest has Jarome Iginla of the Calgary Flames being sent to the Pittsburgh Penguins, as reported on Bleacher Report.
The Flames are in rebuilding mode and sending Iginla to a team with a shot at winning a Stanley Cup and receiving some quality talent in return. The trade could be the best move for both parties. Iginla has been one of the best scorers in the NHL during his career, so this might be the best time to move on for the veteran.
The rumor has Iginla and Rene Bourque going to the Penguins in exchange for Jordan Staal, Eric Tangradi and draft picks. The Flames would get a terrific player in Staal and some much-needed youth in which the team can build around.
This is a deal that would benefit both teams as the Flames need to add youth and the Penguins could use another scorer, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Sidney Crosby. With the NHL season just around the corner, there could be several deals over the next couple of weeks as teams try to fill the needs before the season begins.
