2011 NHL Trade Rumors — Jason Arnott to San Jose Sharks?

With most NHL teams having played twenty-five percent of the season, it is time to look at teams that need to add players if they wish to keep their playoff hopes alive for the rest of the season.

The latest from Bleacher Report has the San Jose Sharks looking to add some veteran leadership and another scorer on their third line, and Jason Arnott of the St Louis Blues is a player that fits the teams needs.

Arnott is 37 years old, but his playoff experience and the fact he is playing in the last year of his contract makes the veteran a quality pickup at the NHL trade deadline. Arnott is having a sub-par season, but St Louis is having a terrible year, and a change of scenery is just what he needs to rejuvenate his battery.

San Jose doesn’t need to make any big moves, but adding a player that can help the team on and off the ice would make perfect sense, and the team wouldn’t need to lockup a lot of money as they can always let Arnott go his own way after the season is finished. The Blues would love to move his salary, and acquiring a youngster could help the Blues in their rebuilding process, making this a good deal for both sides.
