Toronto started the 2011 NHL season on fire, but recent injuries and ineffectiveness on both ends of the ice has the team moving backwards in the Eastern Conference and making a change on the roster could shake things up enough to get this team back into its winning ways.

The latest trade rumor from Bleacher Report has the Maple Leafs adding a much-needed center in Mike Ribeiro of the Dallas Stars. The five-year veteran is terrific on offense and he has been very consistent over his short career. Ribeiro has scored at least 50 points in every season and has over 50 assists in three of his five years in the NHL.

The biggest concern for the Dallas Stars is that their young scorer is in the last year of his contract and the team might need to trade him or risk losing him in free agency and getting nothing in return. Toronto has enough good young talent to make this deal and throwing in a veteran defensemen will help with the $5 million in salary that Ribeiro makes for the 2011-12 season.

Toronto has their best chance in years of making the NHL playoffs and adding a terrific scoring center to their top six rotation will only improve their chances over the rest of the season. Though the team also needs a veteran goalie, adding more offense will also help on the back-end of the ice and keep the fans excited about Toronto as they try making a run at the Stanley Cup.
