The 2012 National League Playoffs schedule has been released by Major League Baseball and it gets started on Friday, October 5. The first game is between the two wild card teams in the first time that this has been done in baseball. The schedule has the Atlanta Braves playing the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLWC on TBS.
The winner of the wild card game advances to face the No. 1 seed (Washington Nationals) beginning with Game 1 on Sunday, October 7. The NLDS should be interesting no matter which team advances to face the team with the best record in the NL this season.
On the other side of the brackets, it’s the Cincinnati Reds vs. San Francisco Giants in the battle of the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds. It is a great match-up on paper, with the pitching of the Giants hoping to slow down the offense of the Reds. Game 1 of that NLDS series is on Saturday, October 6, with the games all getting shown on TBS.
The NLCS will begin on Sunday, October 14 with Game 1 taking place on FOX. The winner of the Washington/Wild Card and San Francisco/Cincinnati match-ups will play in that best-of-7 series.
Which team do you think will advance from the NL to play in the 2012 World Series? Are you excited about the 2012 National League Playoffs schedule getting started?
