2012 NFL Free Agency – Cortland Finnegan to Dallas Cowboys?

It was another disappointing year for the Dallas Cowboys as they missed the NFL playoffs after the team lost four of their last five games and finished the 2011-12 season at 8-8.

Overall the team played better defense than the year before, but there are still a number of holes in this unit, and the secondary is the biggest concern heading into the off-season. The latest rumor has the Cowboys going after free agent corner Cortland Finnegan in a move that would strengthen the team’s defense immediately.

Finnegan has started the last five seasons for the Tennessee Titans and earned his first Pro-Bowl appearance after the 2008 season as he made five interceptions that season. With 14 career picks and a good supporter against the run, Dallas would be wise to acquire the 27-year-old.

Dallas has talent all across its roster, but mental mistakes continue to drag this team down each year, and it is time to look outside the organization for players that are tough mentally and physically. If the Cowboys can add a couple of pieces to the roster, look for this team to contend for the NFL playoffs in 2012.
