The upcoming NFL preseason schedule for the Dallas Cowboys is finalized and the team will open play in Oakland on August 13 in a game that will be shown on ESPN.
With the Cowboys holding their training camp in Southern California, the league has scheduled their first two games on the West Coast.
In week two Dallas will head South and play at San Diego in a game that features two teams with high expectations last year, but both the Cowboys and Chargers failed to make the playoffs and will look towards this season to rebound.
Dallas will open their home schedule in week three as they play host to the St Louis Rams. This game will give fans and coaches a good look at the starters as most teams play their regular units well into the third quarter.
The Cowboys close out their 2012 NFL preseason hosting the Miami Dolphins in the team’s final tune up before they open the regular season on September 5 on the road against their division rival NY Giants.
This is an important season in Dallas as the team finally released several under-performing veterans and added depth at several key positions. Dallas will head into the upcoming season as one of the favorites in the NFC East and could challenge for home field advantage in the playoffs if the team plays up to expectations.
