With the 2012 NIT printable bracket available for the NCAA’s other tournament in March, predictions are now being made. Who are the favorites in this smaller dance’s brackets?
As of Monday the NCAA Tournament has its bracket and so does the National Invitation Tournament. The NIT 2012 bracket reveals 32 teams who were not invited to the Big Dance. These teams will start competing Tuesday night, with their ultimate goal to reach Madison Square Garden in NYC.
An interesting predictions article from Bleacher Report, reveals a few upsets, but mostly holds the top seeds advancing in the NIT’s first round. Among the predicted upsets are #8 seed upsetting the #1 Arizona Wildcats in their game. Other speculated upsets include #6 Minnesota over #3 LaSalle and #6 Central Florida over #3 Drexel. After that, it’s really anyone’s guess who is going to win this thing.
Smart money is that the top teams have the best chance in the NIT brackets just like in the NCAA Tournament brackets. That would mean teams that feel they were snubbed from the Big Dance have a chip on their shoulder. So watch out for Seton Hall, Mississippi State, and Washington. In particular, State was said to have lost out on an invite to the NCAA tournament due to St. Bonaventure winning the A-10 championship. The Bulldogs will have an axe to grind starting Tuesday!
With that said, this really could be anyone’s “little dance” to win, as there’s a plethora of talented teams in the brackets. Who are your NIT 2012 bracket final four predictions?
