2014 NBA schedule release party time is here. The schedule is led by a Miami Heat vs. Chicago Bulls game on opening night that should be packed with excitement. It will be the first time that Derrick Rose has played in an NBA game since the 2012 playoffs and it comes against the defending league champions.
There are two other games on October 29, but the one most worth mentioning is the LA Clippers vs. LA Lakers. It’s a battle for Staples Center on the first day of the regular season, with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin ready to show the league that they truly own Los Angeles now. It’s still a question mark whether Kobe Bryant will return from rehab in time.
Quite a few other significant dates have been revealed in the first look at the 2013-14 schedule, including the first times that the new-look Houston Rockets and Brooklyn Nets will take the court. The Nets play the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 30, while the Rockets will host the Charlotte Bobcats. Both games should draw a lot of attention due to the new people in uniform.
The other thing well worth noting is that the NBA Christmas Day schedule again will include five games, starting with Chicago at Brooklyn (noon ET, ESPN). It continues with Oklahoma City at New York (2:30 p.m. ET, ABC), Miami at the Lakers (5 p.m. ET, ABC), Houston at San Antonio (8 p.m. ET, ESPN), and the Clippers at Golden State (10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN).
Fans of the league should be very excited that NBA action is just around the corner, especially since the off-season seems to have been going on forever.
