’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie: Amanda Seyfried’s ‘Lovelace’ the Perfect Preparation?

50 Shades of Grey movie favorites like Alexis Bledel, Emilia Clarke, and Alexandra Daddario could be facing some tough competition from Amanda Seyfried—the actress’s role in the movie Lovelace might prove to the 50 Shades producers that she’s the perfect Anastasia Steele.

Amanda’s name has often been mentioned in fan polls, and she starred alongside Garrett Hedlund in a popular fan-made 50 Shades movie trailer. However, actresses are finding it hard to beat heavy Ana favorite Alexis Bledel.

Perhaps Fifty fans will flock to Amanda after seeing her in Lovelace, a movie that sounds like it could have quite a bit in common with 50 Shades. The film is based on the life of adult movie actress Linda Lovelace, so obviously it’s going to feature quite a few sex scenes. And according to Amanda Seyfried, her character actually has it a lot worse than Anastasia Steele. Here’s what she recently said about Lovelace:

“To understand someone’s (Lovelace’s) experience is always hard, but to play someone who you can’t relate to at all… I’m not virginal, but nor am I in any way, shape or form comfortable with my sexuality to the point that Linda came to be. The hardest thing was understanding the struggle, the depth of her depression, pretending everything was ok while being beaten the s**t out of every day.”

So just like Ana, Amanda’s character takes quite a beating in Lovelace. However, Ana consents to being bound and spanked—it was probably harder for Amanda to play a character who was actually physically abused.

Even though Les Miserables definitely has its fair share of depressing moments, Amanda said that she was relieved to start working on the movie because Cosette is the “complete opposite” of Linda Lovelace. So it sounds like starring in the 50 Shades of Grey movie would be a piece of cake after Lovelace.

Amanda also has experience stripping down and filming steamy sex scenes in movies like Chloe, and she’s also gotten romantic in films like Dear John and Letters to Juliet. So maybe this very versatile and brave actress is the best choice to play Ana.
