The 50 Shades of Grey movie chatter has primarily centered on which hunk-star actor and PYT actress will take on the respective roles of millionaire business tycoon Christian Grey and his girl, Anastasia Steele. But now there’s another new angle to the film adaptation of the buzz-worthy, best-selling read by E.L. James, which is part of an erotic trilogy that also includes Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. There may be a fourth book in store, which means the potential for a quartet of racy flicks!
James has already expressed her desire to hopefully have three films for Grey, rather than condensing and shortening all of her steamy chapters into one two-hour movie. But the latest rumor has provided the possibility that the magic number could be four instead. This is huge news not only for those who have already zoomed through the page-turning trilogy and would be eager to lay their eyes on another book, but also for those film buffs who will be lining up outside the box office at every 50 Shades debut. As The Stir reports, a representative apparently told some fans that “something exciting” is in store, that there would be a fourth novel, and that it could be a continuation of where Freed ended.
The prospect of multiple films perhaps even changes the game a bit for which actor should be Grey. And it may put Ryan Gosling even further out of the running, especially with reports of his new directorial duties. That said, it seems Alexander Skarsgard and Henry Cavill continue to be the current top contenders; Skarsgard perfectly channeled the powerful vibe of Grey in his recent campaign for Calvin Klein Encounter and Cavill is gaining momentum with his turn as Superman in Man of Steel. However, close on their backs are Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer and a new, slightly unexpected favorite, Christian Bale.
Just the prospect of a three- or four-movie run for 50 Shades of Grey must have upped the ante for those pining to be the chosen ones selected to play the on-screen characters of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in what will no doubt be one or more blockbuster productions. It’s the new Twilight Saga, albeit minus the vampires and plus a punch of far more risqué action!
