’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie: E. L. James Responds to Casting Rumors

The 50 Shades of Grey movie casting rumors just got very interesting recently—American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis claimed that porn star James Deen was in the running for the role of Christian Grey, while E. L. James’ husband reportedly said that he thought The Notebook star Ryan Gosling was going to get the role.

Obviously the many fans of Christian favorites like Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder, Henry Cavill, and Alexander Skarsgard did not take this news too well—they just couldn’t see a sweet and sensitive guy like Ryan snagging the role, and mischievous-looking porn star Deen might not have the right look or the acting chops to pull it off.

Luckily for Fifty fans, E. L. James decided to clear up the 50 Shades of Grey movie rumors herself by taking to Twitter. Here’s what she wrote:

Her inner goddess sounds angry.

Perhaps James is getting a little annoyed with Bret Easton Ellis making claims about the movie—in addition to tweeting that James Deen is in the running for the role of Christian Grey, he’s also annoyed Fifty fans and the LGBT community by saying that Matt Bomer is too gay for the role. And if James’ husband really told someone in the media that Ryan Gosling has already won the part, he probably got quite an earful (hopefully E. L. didn’t pull out any paddles or nipple clamps).

So fans of Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, Henry Cavill, and Alexander Skarsgard can go back to dreaming about their favorites playing Christian for now, and hopefully James is taking notes as these casting rumors continue to surface—doing so might help to keep her and the 50 Shades filmmakers from choosing a Christian that will upset a big chunk of Fifty fans.
