The 50 Shades of Grey movie casting rumors may be music to a host of actors’ and actresses’ ears who would love to snag a role in the film adaptation of E.L. James’ erotic read. But to Emma Watson, they’re just annoying noise now. She has had enough! The starlet is sick and tired of the Anastasia Steele buzz circling around her, and she had no problem admitting as much, either.
“I don’t know how many times I have to reiterate… I literally don’t know how many times I have to say it. I must have said it in 20 interviews now. I’m NOT attached to it. I don’t know why this keeps coming up over and over again,” Watson said at a recent press conference, obviously frustrated at the mindless Grey chatter and the pesky rumors that claim she’s already set to have her Steele moment.
“It’s flattering in the sense that people are excited about what I’m going to do in the future, but I just don’t know where this thing has come from at all. I can’t seem to shake it,” Watson added, as Entertainmentwise reports. And, as if for even greater impact, she rattled off, “I haven’t read the book. I haven’t been sent a script. I haven’t been approached.”
The former Harry Potter star is thought to be a strong contender for the role of Steele, and she could deliver the right amount of sweet and innocent appeal mixed with sultry edge. But, no matter how tiring it may be, Emma Watson may want to make sure not to blast the buzz too much; she wouldn’t want it to go away, especially since she’s previously said she would consider the provocative part. (She may also want to pick up a copy of the book and get ready for some risqué reading time!)
After all, there are surely plenty of other eager starlets ready to strip down for 50 Shades of Grey. PYTs the likes of blue-eyed Alexis Bledel and Emilia Clark, the English actress starring in Game of Thrones, are also considered current favorites. Of course, James may throw everyone a curveball and cast Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele with completely off-the-radar stars.
