’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie Favorite Emma Watson Is Fine with Nude Scenes

50 Shades of Grey movie favorite Emma Watson is trying to prepare her fans for the day that she does her first nude scene.

The actress has denied that she’s been approached to play Christian Grey’s BDSM partner Anastasia Steele, so as of right now her first nude scene won’t involve “vanilla sex.”

However, Emma is hoping to avoid shocking fans the same way fellow former child star Elizabeth Berkley did when she decided to follow up Saved by the Bell with Showgirls—Emma is speaking out about being open to doing nude scenes before she actually gets cast in a role that requires them. Here’s what she recently told Hello! about stripping down for a movie role:

“I’ve been saying since I was 16 that if it’s the right role and important for character development and the story, then of course I’ll do it.”

Getting nude is an important part of Anastasia Steele’s “character development”—she goes from being a virgin to a sex fiend over the course of a few short hours.

Even if Emma Watson doesn’t get cast in the 50 Shades of Grey movie, she is happy about having her name attached to the film. Here’s what she said about her blossoming adult image:

“It’s very exciting that people are starting to see me in a different way. It means that they’re allowing me the space to grow and develop and reincarnate myself.”

From the sounds of it, Emma is starting to see sex scenes as a smart career move. But instead of stripping down in a big movie like 50 Shades, perhaps she’ll take a page from Kristen Stewart by filming her first nude scenes in a smaller indie film. Kristen’s topless scenes in On the Road have gotten plenty of buzz, but they would probably be a much bigger deal if they were shot for a mainstream movie.

So do you think that doing nude scenes would be a smart career move for Emma, or would her Harry Potter fan base turn on her for doing something so un-Hermione-like?
