Most of the 50 Shades of Grey movie talk may center around the hot favorites for the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. But just as interesting are the potential players for the supporting cast like Ana’s photographer friend Jose; Taylor Lautner has the physique and Pretty Little Liars‘ Tyler Blackburn has the look minus the Twilight connection, while Michael Trevino could bring even more Vampire Diaries edge, should Ian Somerhalder land the part of Christian. As for Ana’s BFF and roommate Kate Kavanagh, well, Brooklyn Decker might just fit the bill.

Plus she has that strawberry blonde hair for which the aspiring journalist is known. While The Insider notes that Decker may be a bit mature, she is only 25, and her gorgeous girl-next-door edge could definitely be made plenty youthful. And she’s had just enough big-screen roles–think What to Expect When You’re Expecting, Battleship and Just Go With It–to make her experienced without being too overexposed.

Revenge‘s Christa B. Allen could also be an interesting pick, as the young starlet has certainly made an impact on the hit ABC TV series. However, she doesn’t have the platinum blonde thing working for her or the towering model physique. The Insider doesn’t mention her, but Gossip Girl‘s blonde, bold beauty, Blake Lively, seems like an even stronger fit for Kate than Brooklyn Decker. After all, she’s had the direct experience playing a best friend to Leighton Meester’s Blair Waldorf on The CW’s show.

The role of Kate Kavanagh in the 50 Shades of Grey film adaptation may largely depend on who is cast as Anastasia Steele. The two actresses will have to mesh well together and appear as if they could actually be besties!
