’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie: James Deen as Christian Grey?

The 50 Shades of Grey movie casting rumors have just got a bit raunchier—adult film star James Deen is in the running for the role.

Or so claims American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis.

Ellis has been steadily tweeting about the 50 Shades film in what may be no more than an attempt to get attention, but it’s possible he has some friends in high places that might know all the dirty details about which actors and actresses are being considered for the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Ellis did recently claim that he was scratched off of the list of potential screenwriters for the movie.

You’ll have to decide for yourself whether or not to believe his latest tweet:

“Just got inside information that James Deen is actually in the running to play Christian in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ with E.L. James support.”

James is a porn star who is actually very popular with young women, so perhaps he really is being considered for the part. However, it’s hard to imagine him playing a sex god since he resembles Growing Pains actor/Christian crusader Kirk Cameron so much, and he’s got this goofy, mischievous look that really wouldn’t work for a dark, damaged character like Christian. So maybe Bret Easton Ellis is tweeting about him just to promote his new movie The Canyons, which stars Deen and Lindsay Lohan.

If Ellis had tweeted that Lindsay Lohan is being considered for the role of Anastasia Steele, it would be pretty obvious that he’s full of it. But instead he wrote this about Ana:

“Fifty Shades of Grey movie will DEFINITELY be written by a woman and the budget will be below 15 million. Ana will be played by an unknown.”

So sorry if you were hoping to see Alexis Bledel, Emilia Clarke, Lucy Hale, or Alexandra Daddario partake in a little “kinky f***ery.”

If what Ellis is saying is true, then the 50 Shades of Grey movie producers aren’t looking to snag a high-priced movie star like Ryan Gosling or Henry Cavill for the role of Christian. This means that there could be hope for fans of Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder.

So do you think that Deen is really being considered for the part, or is Ellis just trying to connect him to 50 Shades in order to promote The Canyons?
