’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie: Keira Knightley Talks Possibility of Playing Anastasia Steele

The 50 Shades of Grey movie just lost another casting option.

Even though the film seems destined to be a big moneymaker, it’s easy to see why some young actresses aren’t jumping at the chance to play Anastasia Steele—not every starlet is comfortable with getting naked and filming racy sex scenes, and there are going to be a lot of awkward intimate moments in the 50 Shades film.

Keira Knightley isn’t an actress who has shied away from nude scenes in the past, but apparently 50 Shades is just a bit too much for her. According to Just Jared, here’s what she said about choosing her next movie project:

“You know, I normally don’t like to give a definite about anything [but] I can definitely say it will not be 50 Shades of Grey.”

Perhaps Keira got turned off from the movie after hearing about the infamous tampon scene, or maybe she just doesn’t want to shoot a spanking scene ever again after getting her butt busted by Michael Fassbender in A Dangerous Method.

It’s also possible that Keira Knightley just doesn’t want to star in something so emotionally taxing after playing tragic romantic heroine Anna Karenina. It might be time for her to look for a good romantic comedy.

Even though Keira is out, 50 Shades fans still have plenty of Anastasia Steele options to choose from—Emma Watson, Emilia Clarke, and Alexis Bledel haven’t said no to the role (but they haven’t said yes either).

Channing Tatum recently removed himself from the list of Christian Grey favorites by saying that he’s taking a break from acting, so perhaps the casting options for the movie will continue to be pared down.

So are you disappointed that Channing and Keira have taken themselves out of the running for the roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, or are you happy that your favorites just lost a little competition?
