’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie: Michael Fassbender Talks About Being a Christian Favorite

The 50 Shades of Grey movie favorites for the role of Christian Grey are dropping like flies.

First Ryan Gosling stopped speculation that he’s in talks for the role by saying he doesn’t know anything about 50 Shades except that it’s a popular book, then Alexander Skarsgard revealed that he’d rather remake Lolita. And now Michael Fassbender has made it known that he’s not exactly a Fifty fan, either.

Even though he’s much too old to play 27-year-old business tycoon Christian, some Fassbender fans were hoping that the age of the whip-wielding dom with a dark past could be changed for the movie so that he could get cast.

However, here’s what Michael Fassbender told The Mail about the 50 Shades of Grey movie:

“I haven’t even read the book. You get your privates out and people assume you are some sex maniac.”

So it definitely doesn’t sound like he’s interested.

It’s not hard to see why fans thought that Fassy would make the perfect Christian Grey. In addition to being sexy, he actually filmed a full-frontal nude scene in the movie Shame, and there was also a little “kinky f***ery” going on in his movie A Dangerous Method—in it he gets to spank brunette beauty Keira Knightley.

Celebitchy doesn’t believe that big-name movie actors like Michael, Alexander Skarsgard, Christian Bale, Henry Cavill, and Ryan Gosling will actually be considered for the role of Christian, so fans should probably look for Christian to come from a TV series. Luckily they shouldn’t have a problem with this since the biggest fan favorites for the role seem to be White Collar star Matt Bomer and The Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder. Stephen Amell, the star of the new CW TV series, Arrow, might also be an option.

Fans could also start looking for hot guys with smaller roles in movies—remember how Robert Pattinson landed Twilight after playing Cedric in the Harry Potter films? If history repeats itself and an actor with a smaller role in a movie franchise based on books gets cast as the lead in the next big movie franchise based on books, this could mean that Sam Claflin is the perfect Christian; he’s a rising star who just got cast as The Hunger Games hottie Finnick.

So do you agree that a big movie star won’t get cast as Christian Grey? And which smaller star would you like to see land the part—Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder, Stephen Amell, or Sam Claflin?
