’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie: The Rating Is Revealed; Kelly Marcel Talks Casting

50 Shades of Grey movie fans worried that the film will be turned into a PG-13 rom-com can quit fretting right now—the movie is going to be rated NC-17.

So that means that Fifty fans will probably get a few full frontal scenes featuring the lucky actor who plays Christian Grey. Sadly, Shame star Michael Fassbender has already said that he doesn’t want to play the brooding billionaire who tries to convince a college student to become his next sex slave.

According to Yahoo! Movies, screenwriter Kelly Marcel recently talked about how far the movie will go as far as the sex scenes are concerned, and she wants Fifty fans to know that they’re going to see a lot more than Anastasia Steele’s “O” face and a few quick flashes of flesh. Here’s what she said about the 50 Shades of Grey movie’s NC-17 rating:

“This isn’t going to be Twilight. It’s going to be raunchy… We are 100% going there.”

She did say that some sex scenes from the book will have to be cut to squeeze a little more of the plot in, so maybe she’ll leave out that terrible tampon scene. However, Kelly was probably referring to some of the scenes that don’t stand out because they feel so repetitive.

Kelly Marcel also said that there will be no casting news until she finishes writing the screenplay, but now Fifty fans know what kind of actor and actress will play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele—they’ll have to be stars who are okay with shooting a lot of nude scenes.

Fan favorites like Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, Alexis Bledel, and Lucy Hale don’t have any experience in this area, but there aren’t a lot of popular young actors and actresses who do. Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke might be the best Ana option because she is obviously okay with doing nude scenes, and The Worst Witch star Felicity Jones has also said that she’d be open to stripping down for the movie.

True Blood hottie Alexander Skarsgard could be the best Christian Grey option when it comes to fan favorites who are fine with full frontal nudity—he has said that he shoots his True Blood nude scenes without the special covering the other actors wear. Unfortunately, he’s almost a decade older that Christian. Other actors who have shown everything on film that would have a hard time playing a twenty-something include Ewan McGregor, Christian Bale, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Tom Hardy is also way too old for the role, but since the 35-year-old actor and Kelly Marcel are such good pals, she might consider changing Christian’s age just for him. Hardy and Marcel have worked together, and the actor admires the writer so much that he has a tattoo on his arm that pays tribute to her.

Tom also did full frontal nudity in the short film Sergeant Slaughter, and his name is also strikingly similar to that of Thomas Hardy, the author who wrote the book Tess of the d’Urbervilles. Christian gifts Ana with a first-edition copy of the novel in 50 Shades, so Tom has a cool connection to the movie.

So are you glad that the movie is going to be really raunchy, and do you think that Tom Hardy should play Christian?
