Several names have been thrown around for the “50 Shades of Grey” movie. Jumping on the bandwagon for the much-anticipated film (that has yet to be cast), Extra TV recently examined Paddy Power’s listings to see who has the best chances of snagging a role. So, which male and female candidates are most likely to be cast as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey?
Tied with 8/1 odds were Amanda Seyfried and Emmy Rossum. Of the two, Seyfried would make a great fit with her big, innocent blue eyes. She could convincingly play an innocent college girl who’s corrupted by a rich, handsome man. However, ahead of her and Rossum with 6/1 odd are Alexis Bledel of “Mad Men” and Kristen Stewart. K-Stew already has the magic touch when it comes to box office success, plus she has that awkward thing nailed down! But does she have what it takes to unleash her inner goddess on the big screen? Perhaps fame isn’t everything. Sometimes audiences need someone fresh and new, which may explain why one step ahead with 5/1 odds is Elizabeth Olsen. She may be new to viewing audiences, but she’s likely learned much about acting from famous sisters Mary Kate and Ashley.
For the men, the 6/1 odds go to Ian Somerhalder and Alexander Skarsgard. Both have played sexy vampires–they have the bad boy thing down! But is Skarsgard too old to play Christian Grey? Coming in ahead of them with 11/2 odds are Arnie Hammer and Mark Ruffalo. Talk about old–how did Ruffalo even get on this list? He doesn’t seem to resemble the main male character in the least. As for Hammer, he may have played in “The Social Network,” but other than that, is there anything about him that viewers trust to make him an appropriate fit for the role? Mystery, however, could win him the spot. However, there is a very well-known name ahead of the rest of the pack with 5/1 odds: Ryan Gosling. Who wouldn’t be happy with that pick? He was shafted for People magazine’s “Sexiest Man of the Year.” Perhaps this is just what he needs to make up for that loss.
Of the actors and actresses listed, who do you think is the best fit for the “50 Shades of Grey” movie?
