60 Minutes reporter Lesley Stahl reportedly ‘fawned over’ Arnold Schwarzenegger in a piece touting his new book, and Maria Shriver is nothing if not completely pissed off.
According to a report from TMZ, it seems the news program never contacted Maria Shriver prior to the interview to get her take on the book that describes Arnold’s affair with Mildred Baena—the housekeeper with whom he fathered a child.
On the Monday after Arnold’s interview was shot and already in the can, a 60 Minutes producer finally called Maria to ask her for a general comment about the book.
“The piece is a blow *** for Arnold. Lesley Stahl just fawned over him,” a TMZ source says, adding it really wasn’t all that surprising that Maria wasn’t contacted until after the fact.
Arnold never offered Maria an advance copy of the book either, but she isn’t particularly eager to read it anyway.
“What Maria has already been through … nothing surprises her anymore,” a source says.
A close friend of Shriver’s chimed in saying, “She knows the book is a big PR stunt to get back in the public’s good graces.”
But what about 60 Minutes? Have they no good graces whatsoever? What kind of reporting are they doing by only allowing one side of the story to air? A good producer would demand that reporters cover all points of view and air a concise report—even if it reflects poorly on the subject.
Is Arnold Schwarzenegger lining the pockets of 60 Minutes executives? How did he manage to warrant such a one-sided report?
