9,000 protesters march against Obama in Oslo

Over 6000 people marched in Oslo after US President Barack Obama accepted the Nobel Peace Prize in a speech justifying war, urging him to live up to the accolade.

The crowd marched in a peaceful, torchlight procession denouncing nuclear weapons and ended up outside Mr Obama’s hotel. police and organisers said.

A further 3000 protesters took part in a demonstration organized by the Norwegian Peace Initiative, calling for an end to the war in Afghanistan, controlled arms trade, a halt to nuclear weapons, land mines and the end of Israeli settlements.
