A Mitt Romney/Ron Paul Ticket?

Could Ron Paul (R-TX) be the next Vice President? To hear Rick Santorum tell it, it’s written in stone! After Romney and Paul “ganged up” on Santorum during the CNN Mesa, Arizona GOP debate, Santorum told reporters, “You have to ask Congressman Paul and Governor Romney what they’ve got going together. Their commercials look a lot alike and so do their attacks.” Would Paul even accept such an offer? If so, would Paul’s supporters vote for Mitt Romney to get Paul into office? There have been rumors online that Romney would actually choose Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Paul’s son, as his running mate.

After the debate, and Santorum’s comment, his top strategist, John Brabender, really laid it out about Romney and Paul. He is convinced that Romney and Paul have a big secret! He said, “Clearly there’s a tag team strategy between Ron Paul and Mitt Romney. For all I know, Mitt Romney might be considering Ron Paul as his running mate. Clearly there is now an alliance between those two and you saw that certainly in the debate.” Maybe it’s the fact that Santorum has screwed up left and right for the past week? These men are all politicians, they will take advantage of a man down.

Romney’s camp thinks the entire thing is funny. Stuart Stevens, Romney’s chief strategist said, “If ever there was an iconoclast who got up there and said what he believed, it’s Ron Paul.” He went on to say that Rick Santorum is running ads similar to Obama’s and asked if that meant they were collaborating! It will be interesting to hear from Paul on this. Several supporters have expressed online that they don’t feel the congressman would accept the position of VP.
