Following our hike through the Hall of Mosses at the Hoh Rainforest, we took off down the highway through the National Forest again, toward route 101. The forest has many faces…here’s one: a clearcut

We made a stop at Ruby Beach to look around, about nine miles before Kalaloch…

Here we have entered the Kalaloch Campground, with the beach visible through the trees.

Despite the cool weather, there were a lot of people on the beach…with plenty of room to roam.

Driving on, we pulled in near Kalaloch Lodge…the view from the parking lot

Turning slightly south…

And a bit further south, overlooking some cabins on the bluff…

We stopped for coffee at the little store next to the Lodge, and ate some snacks at a picnic table nearby…here is D. in front of Kalaloch Lodge. Check out all the seagulls on the roof. You can bet they weren’t far away while we were eating!

Then it’s back into the van to drive south and east: Next stop, Lake Quinault
