Dennis Hopper died today at his home in Venice, California, after suffering from prostate cancer. He was 74 year sold.
Dennis Hopper was best known for his portrayal of misfits in movies like Easy Rider, Apocolypse Now and Blue Velvet.
Dennis Hopper, who said he stopped his tirade of drinking and abusing drugs back in the mid-1980s, followed those lifestyle changes with a tireless phase of his career in which he claimed to have turned down no parts. His credits include at leastÂ six films released in 2008 and at least 25 othersÂ throughout the past 10 years. He recently starred in the TV series “Crash.”
It was during a promo tour for “Crash” last fall that Dennis Hopper fell seriously ill and began treatments for prostate cancer, for which he had been diagnosed a decade ago.
News that Dennis Hopper has died was announced by Alex Hitz, a family friend.
I remember writing not too many weeks ago about Dennis Hopper receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I am glad he lived to receive the honor, which he shared with his young daughter.
I’m saddened to hear that Dennis Hopper has died. He was indeed a legend.
