Adam Lambert has been a superstar since he was deemed runner-up on American Idol, and his fans love his unique sound. Thursday the site lalate.com is breaking news that there is someone who doesn’t think Lambert is unique enough, as they are suing him for copyright infringement. The suit is tied to Adam’s song “Beg For Mercy,” and the plaintiff is Colwel Platinum Entertainment Inc.

The complaint was filed November 1, and Adam Lambert is listed as the sole defendant. Copyright registration was filed in 2009 for “Beg For Mercy,” and Wilshire Records Limited is listed as the claimant “by written agreement.” There is no comment as yet from Lambert’s camp, and the complaint is not available as of yet for the public to view. The plaintiff is requesting a jury trial, and next up is a discovery process.

More details will emerge over the next few weeks on this one, and Adam Lambert fans are hopeful this will turn out to be much ado about nothing. They are already buzzing about the situation and are standing firmly behind Adam. The complaint was filed in Los Angeles, and lalate.com said the complaint should become available for viewing by Friday or so.
