The nominees have been announced for the 2012 NewNowNext awards and Adam Lambert’s fans are up against those of Lady Gaga, RuPaul, True Blood and Vampire Diaries for the “Superfan Site Award.” This category is unique in that it is not a competition among the official websites of these pop phenomena, rather the best fan created websites. One nominated fan website, The Adam Lambert Official Unofficial Site, features top news about the singer, along with a forum and online store.
In February 2009, Fernando Vivanco brought together some of Adam’s biggest fans to build the first fan community, at a time when many people thought he was too ‘theatrical’ and was not going to go very far on Idol. In just two short months this community exploded, and by the fourth month the website reached over 300,000 visitors. Carol Hagey, website author, says:
“It’s really flattering to get recognized by an organization that also supports Adam. We’ve worked really hard for 3 years operating our fansite. In addition to reporting any information we learn about him, we’ve worked to bring the fans together by sponsoring dinners at several concert locations. These face-to-face meetings have cemented many friendships, which have helped our site to thrive.”
Now there are two reasons to watch the NewNowNext awards this year, because a couple of weeks ago Adam announced that he will be performing on the show. Tune in to the 2012 NewNowNext Awards on Logo TV on April 9 to watch Adam perform and to see if The Adam Lambert Official Unofficial Site wins the Superfan Site Award. Until then, continue to vote for the fan site at the voting website.
