Alexis at the Arboretum

Today we did something we have never done before. We split up the twins. Our daughters are two and a half and spend spend every waking (and sleeping) moment together. While they enjoy being together, we think it’s important for them to learn to be apart and enjoy some one on one time with each parent. We are going to take Saturday mornings and take turns taking each child somewhere fun. Today Thairyan took Bella to the hobby shop and lunch at Applebee’s, and I took Alexis to the Chesapeake Arboretum and lunch at McDonald’s

It was wonderful being able to focus on one child and it took a lot of the stress out of taking two year olds somewhere. I was able to relax and have a good time and I know Alexis enjoyed having me all to herself, despite some initial tears and calling for “Daddy and baby girl!”

We had such a good time exploring the gardens and trails at the Arboretum. I had never been there before and I really enjoyed discovering it with my daughter.

First we snagged a map,

then we spent some time exploring the various gardens,

then set off on the trails.

We crossed bridges,

and looked at the creek.

Alexis called this part of the trail “the hallway”, and it spooked her a little!

Then we stopped for lunch at McDonald’s, since Alexis requested “a burger and a toy.”

I’m so excited for next week when I get to have an adventure with Bella!
