While Amanda Knox is cozying up in a “trial marriage” with her new beau, her former “partner in crime” is now engaged. Raffaele Sollecito recently announced that he is marrying Italian volleyball player Annie Achille. It seems that these two former lovers are moving on with their lives, separately, even though just a couple of months ago it was rumored that Knox and Sollecito were corresponding with each other and planning on having a reunion.
It seems rather quick that Raffaele Sollecito would be getting married, since he and Amanda Knox were only freed from their four-year prison sentences in October of 2011. That’s only a short three months that has passed since both “Foxy Knoxy” and Sollecito have moved into these alleged “longterm” relationships.
Perhaps it’s for the best, seeing as though the two got in quite a lot of trouble together. Maybe Amanda and Raffaele as a union is too toxic and the possible foundation for violent crimes—as they’re still believed by some to be guilty of Meredith Kercher’s murder.
What’s in the future for Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito?
Since both are moving on in their own directions (he in Italy and she in the U.S.), it seems like they both got their happy endings. However, it might not be all smooth sailing in the future. That’s because Italian officials are currently seeking an appeal of the appeal that freed “Foxy Knoxy” and her loverboy from their confines. This will be the third appeal in the world-famous case.
Do you think Italian officials will be successful in appealing for the third time? If they’re successful, will Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito be required to go back to prison? It doesn’t seem likely that Amanda would willingly leave her comfortable apartment (situated above a Chinese restaurant) to head back to Perugia. In fact, it seems that Italy will have one hell of a time getting this appeal that they’re after, and if they do, enforcing it may be even more difficult.
In the meantime, the family of Meredith Kercher are still suffering internally. They’ll never see their beautiful, smiling daughter (or sister, etc and so forth). And they’ll probably always be conflicted over this entire trial that appears to have been a total miscarriage of justice.
