‘American Idol’ 2013 Recap: Nicki Minaj Begs for Papa Peachez

On American Idol 2013 for the San Antonio auditions, Nicki Minaj became completely enthralled by a fellow named Papa Peachez. Sadly, her peers Keith Urban and Randy Jackson weren’t so sure about this particular performer, and Mariah Carey wasn’t over the moon about him but did think he was worthy of a golden ticket to Hollywood.

However, that almost didn’t come to pass. Papa Peachez showed he is a true original, the blonde kid declaring he is actually “a big black woman” captured in the body of a “skinny white boy.” With that declaration out there, he then belts out a tune that he says is one “only Papa Peachez could sing.”

At the end of the exciting but rather bizarre performance, Nicki tells this potential Idol star that he is already “a star.” Keith Urban begs to differ and gives him a “no” during the voting process that will or will not get him through to the next part of the audition process. Ditto Randy Jackson.

Then, when Mariah Carey weighs in with a small “yes” for sending Papa Peachez Hollywood-bound, Minaj begs Randy, who is the tie-breaker in San Antonio, to let this sweet person through. Her begging turns to pleading turns to Randy changing his mind as the original AI judge changed his vote and uttered that all-important “Yes.” With that, Papa Peachez fell to the ground in gratitude—and then some.

That said, take a look at the American Idol 2013 Papa Peachez YouTube video of his AI audition below and weight in: Do you think this boy is ready for Hollywood? Did the judges ultimately get it right by sending him on to continue to compete in this TV talent competition? Please weigh in.
