Phillip Phillips, newly crowned American Idol, will undergo extensive kidney surgery on Tuesday. Word has it the singer will be recuperating in some serious high style.

According to a report from TMZ, Phillips has a congenital kidney stone problem that kept him in horrific pain throughout his entire American Idol journey. Now a surgery to restructure one of his kidneys is scheduled and should finally render the singer pain-free.

Just one week ago, doctors urged Phillips to give up his quest to become the American Idol. They recommended he throw in the towel and have the surgery right then and there during a quick trip home to Georgia.

The pain Phillip Phillips has endured is ‘unbearable’ by most people’s standards. Can you imagine how much he wanted to win American Idol in order to endure such horrible discomfort?

Recovery from Phillip’s surgery should take about six weeks, but he—and his parents, too—will be living in high style as that recovery takes place. Someone from the American Idol production company has offered the family the use of his luxurious Malibu mansion while Phillip recuperates.

Prayers will no doubt be said for Phillip Phillips from around the country on Tuesday as he goes under the knife for his much-needed kidney surgery. It will be heartwarming to see the singer following his recovery and know that he is finally doing what he loves—sans the pain he endured for so long.
