‘American Idol’: Randy Jackson Out as Judge—Who Replaces Him?

American Idol is really cleaning house this year. The last of the original judges is gone. TMZ is reporting that Randy Jackson is out. As of now, Jackson is slated to remain on the show as a mentor, but what this will really mean is unclear. The real question is who replaces him. Mariah Carey was announced as a new judge in July and Nicki Minaj’s deal is almost done, but no men have been confirmed.

Idol wants a country star, as shown by Toby Keith, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban having been spoken to, but latest guess is that Urban is the man. He has previous experience from The Voice in Australia, plus he is the least controversial. However, after a Country star, who would the fourth judge be? Yes, they are going there again, and frankly, it could make the show better. Less bad duets and trios with meaningless commentary. Kanye West’s name has been thrown out, but he does not want the job. Adam Lambert was mentioned early, as was will.i.am, but not much news lately. How should American Idol replace Randy Jackson?
