Amy Winehouse’s last days and hours are slowly coming together giving fans a glimpse of what might have led to her untimely passing. Was her passing intentional? Did she aspire to become a member of the 27 club? The answers may surprise some of her fans.

AmyWinehouseBerlin2007According to a source of The Daily Mirror Amy was aware of the 27 club. The 27 club is a group of musicians including Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison that died at age 27 leaving a legacy of music and turned the artists into pop icons.

“Amy never wanted to die in obscurity, to die having never made a record as good as Back To Black. It was almost as if she wanted to die young, to leave a legacy, and to be remembered for her music and her voice,” said the source.

After a fight with her boyfriend Reg Traviss Amy went on a binge which is feared to have been a possible suicide attempt. he source claims that she was on a self-destruct mission while injecting heroin. “The fear is she deliberately took more than usual because she was past the point of caring whether she lived or died,” said the source.

If Amy did intend to kill herself was it all in an attempt to become a member of the 27 club or was it due to her being distraught over the fight with Traviss? The world may never fully know the answers to those questions. Amy did leave a legacy of her music behind and there’s no doubt that she’s a pop icon – just like the other members of the 27 club.

What do you think? Did she intend to die at 27? Or was she just upset and past the point of caring as the source claims? Weigh in below.
