Amy Winehouse Tragic Death Causes Record Sales to Skyrocket

Amy Winehouse has died at 27, but her music will go on forever. Record sales since her tragic and untimely death have skyrocketed proving that her songs and her extraordinary voice will live on without her in a big way.

Devoted fans, as well as those who may have never heard Amy sing before learning about her death on Saturday, are now rushing to buy her album, Back to Black, which was released five years ago in 2006.

According to Official Charts Company Director Martin Talbot, Winehouse’s albums have increased 37-fold between the 24-hour period between Friday and Saturday.

“While Amy has already had an impact on the Official Charts, we would expect an even bigger impact to roll through over the coming days,” said Talbot. “Such a demonstration of her popularity is the best tribute the British public can pay to this extraordinary British talent.”

Clearly, songs written and sung by Amy Winehouse will continue to be snagged by those who love her music, as well as those who are curious about who she was and what everybody is talking about.

It is such a sad ending to the life of such an amazing singer who just couldn’t seem to get past her addictions. Her incredible talent wasn’t missed on anyone who heard her sing, including Tony Bennet.

“It had been my sincere hope that she would be able to overcome the issues she was battling and I send my deepest sympathy to her father Mitchell, her entire family and all of those who loved her,” Bennett said.

Winehouse’s Back to Black album earned her five Grammy awards in 2007. There is a reason why it is selling out again. It is just tragic Amy Winehouse had to die for it to happen and extremely sad she won’t be able to complete any more albums and make any more music for the world to enjoy.
