Ann Romney Invited to Star on ‘Modern Family’

Ann Romney has been given the chance to star on her favorite TV show Modern Family, but there’s a catch.

Ann certainly showed that she has the looks for TV while wearing Republican red during her speech at the RNC, but if Mitt Romney gets elected, she won’t get to try her hand at acting alongside Sofia Vergara.

She was an excellent actress at the RNC – by talking about pasta and tuna fish, she tried to paint herself as just another middle-class mom. But while Ann might shop at Costco, it’s highly unlikely that she’s ever walked into a grocery store worrying about whether she can afford enough food for her family to make it through the week. And she didn’t just offend mothers who know what the middle class’ real struggles are – she also offended gay Americans by emphasizing her “real” marriage.

A tweet by Modern Family co-creator Steve Levitan probably got a lot of retweets after her marriage comment. Here’s what he wrote shortly before her speech:

“Thrilled Ann Romney says ModFam is her favorite show. We’ll offer her the role of officiant at Mitch & Cam’s wedding. As soon as it’s legal.”

During an interview with Nancy O’Dell of Entertainment Tonight, Ann had said that Modern Family is her favorite show.

Since Mitt Romney has made it known that he’s against gay marriage, Ann won’t get the chance to shine on that show if he gets elected. However, FOX News can never have enough blondes that agree with the network’s views. Perhaps she’ll get an offer from FOX that will make her feel better.

It’s easy to see why Steve Levitan was annoyed with Ann stating that Modern Family is her favorite show – it aims to show that a gay couple raising a kid is no different from a straight couple raising a kid. And obviously that message is lost on someone like Ann.

But if Barack Obama gets reelected and there is a push to legalize same-sex marriage, who knows? Maybe Ann will officiate Mitch & Cam’s wedding so that their “real” marriage can begin.
