I must admit I was a bit surprised by the success of this installment of Donald Trump's reality series. After all, I believe I was one of only five people who watched the last one. But the ratings have been up for this one, likely because of the writer's strike.
I don't want to offend anyone, but some of the celebrities have seen better days. Of course, many of them will leave quite a legacy: Nadia Commenci, Carol Alt, Lennox Lewis.
The stand-out among all celebrities, though, is the only person who really still has a career, country singer Trace Atkins. Atkins' songs constantly hit the top of the charts and I was surprised that he would take time out for this. He could have made a ton touring instead. He seems to be very compassionate about his charity, which is a group that funds research and awareness of food allergies. Trace's oldest daughter has food allergies and he's talked openly about many trips to the emergency room. I'm sure many of the parents reading this can relate.
Trace speaks with a southern accent, obviously stands out in New York City and lacks the cut-throat attitude shared by most non-celebrity and celebrity candidatess. In tonight's finale, he goes up against some guy named Piers…perhaps the Brits could fill me in on who he is. From what I can figure out, he publishes a gossip magazine. Is that true?
Anyway, the two-hour finale begins at 9 p.m. EST. My money and my heart will be rooting for Trace Atkins.
