The Grammy-winning band Arcade Fire may have just made a pit stop in Austin last week during their tour, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t already ready to head back to the “live music capital of the world”!
In fact, Arcade Fire has confirmed that they’ll be one of the major headliners of this year’s Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival in the Texas capitol city, and will be heading back to Austin in less than five months to play to an eager crowd that will likely top 100,000 people!
Though the entire 2011 ACL lineup has not been released, Arcade Fire is one of a handful of bands who have already committed to playing this year. Also on the short list of confirmations are My Morning Jacket, Cee Lo, Empire of the Sun, Fleet Foxes, Chromeo, Smith Westerns, J. Roddy Walston and the Business, Hayes Carll and Delta Spirit.
While Arcade Fire is clearly a hot band now, having just won the Grammy for Album of the Year for The Suburbs, they’re a repeat guest at the ACL lineup, having played the music festival back in 2007. As such, do you feel that they’re a good headliner? Previous main headliners have included Foo Fighters, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and other huge names. Arcade Fire seems to be a bit up-and-coming in comparison to the major acts above, don’t you think?
Would you be willing to shell out the increasing ticket prices for a three-day pass to see the bands above? Who would you like to see added to–or removed from–the list?
