People are still buzzing about Monday night’s episode of The Bachelor 2012 with Ben Flajnik, and for good reason. Producers can tease drama ’til they are blue in the face, but it usually doesn’t live up to the hype. This week, however, was a different story. Tuesday The Bachelorette Ashley Hebert stopped by E! News and talked about what she calls the “classic case of mean-girlism” that ran amok on Monday night’s show.
Check out Ashley’s chat in the video below, where she says her mind was blown by how the bachelorettes reacted to Shawntel Newton’s appearance. Hebert thought many of the ladies made poor judgment calls, and even Ben Flajnik himself has said he wasn’t prepared for just how crazy it would get. Ashley herself made great friendships during her time on The Bachelor, and of course she came away from The Bachelorette with a fiancé. She hopes that some of the ladies on the show can set aside their competitive nature and embrace the opportunity to develop friendships as well.
The girls may have the claws out, but Hebert wonders, “What guy wants to be with a girl that’s nasty to other people?” She adds, “If you’re in this to be competitive and to beat everyone else, it’s kind of wasting everyone’s time.” Fans of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette watch to see a love story, but sometimes it seems that production is more focused on delivering drama. That certainly seems to be the case so far this season, but many remember that Ashley’s season started off a bit rocky as well. Will Ben Flajnik find lasting love this season? Fans hope so, and so does Ashley Hebert. She says, “I was lucky enough to walk away with that, and I hope that Ben’s lucky enough to walk away with that, too.”
What was your reaction to Monday night’s drama? Are you sticking with The Bachelor and all the craziness, or is it getting to be too much? The Bachelor airs on ABC every Monday night.
