‘Babylon 5′ Star Michael O’Hare Dead at 60

Babylon 5 star Michael O’Hare died on Friday after suffering a heart attack several days before. His death was announced via Facebook by creator J. Michael Straczynski.

According to a report from The Huffington Post, O’Hare was in a coma at the time of his passing.

“I regret that I must convey the sad news that Michael passed away today. He suffeBabylon 5red a heart attack on Sunday and was in a coma until his passing this afternoon. This is a terrible loss for all B5 fans and everyone involved with the show wishes to convey their condolences to the O’Hare family. He was an amazing man,” Straczynski wrote.

Playing the role of Commander Jeffrey Sinclair on Babylon 5, O’Hare left after the show’s first season. His other credits include a Broadway role in A Few Good Men—the same role Jack Nicholson played in the film adaptation—and a guest role on Law and Order. He had a recurring role on the soap opera One Life to Live.

O’Hare returned to Babylon 5 for one episode in season 2 and for two episodes in season 3, in order to wrap up the storyline for his character. He was replaced by Bruce Boxleitner. The science fiction show ran for a total of five seasons.

It’s sad that such a talented actor has passed away so soon. His legacy will long live on, however, in epsiodes of Babylon 5. Heart attacks kill way too many people every year. Perhaps if just one person pays heed to the warning signs of heart disease of heart attacks, then O’Hare’s death won’t be in vain.

Michael O’Hare was just 60 at the time of his death. He will long be remembered by Babylon 5 fans, his friends and family.
