Beatitude

Let me be as meek as a drop of water

Among the great multitude of drops in Your sea,

So that I have no power to oppose

The Superior path You have planned for me.

Let me see the poorness of my spirit

That brings me down on bent knee,

Knowing that I deserve absolutely nothing,

Not even that which meets my needs.

Let me always feel the pain of mourning,

Known by a heart that never grows cold,

And an eye never blind to injustice,

As only a caring spirit may know.

Let my responses be as merciful

As a rain shower in a time of drought

So no one in need that You show to me

Must know the hardship of going without

Let my thoughts be as pure of heart

As Your loyal Job in his time of need,

So that even in the grip of despair

Sin will not have the slightest hold on me

Let me always be hungry for Your Word

As it does so little up on a shelf

But when studied, it nourishes my life

And reveals there is more to days then self

Let me never refuse to boldly share

The One True Faith that I have as a Gift,

So that the Word I hear, is what I speak

And the Holy Spirit empowers each breath

Father, these are the Blessings that I seek

The ones that Jesus praised above all

In Jesus’ name, I ask and shall receive

So from Your favor I shall never fall.
