Bellator 64 Preview

MTV 2 features Bellator 64 in what should be a very entertaining card for mixed martial arts fans around the world. The main event features a Welterweight Title fight between Ben Askren and Douglas Lima.

Starting the night off, Rodgrigo Lima takes on Hiroshi Nakamura in a batamweight fight. Lima comes into this fight with an unbeaten record of 10-0. He trains under the Team Nogueira and has over 5 submissions. Look for him to take this fight to the ground and utilize his ground skills.

Nakamura comes into this fight with a record of 14-5. He trains with Tokyo Yellow Mans and has a lot of decisions under his belt. He will need to be more aggressive if he wants to beat Lima tonight.

Next up on the card is another bantamweight fight between Travis Marx and Masakatsu Ueda. Marx comes into this fight with a record of 18-3. He trains out of Jackson’s MMA and has over 10 submissions with 4 tkos. He is very well rounded and can go anywhere in this fight and still feel comfortable. Ueda comes into this fight with an overall record of 15-1. He is affiliated with Parestra Tokyo and will look to keep this fight standing to avoid a submission.

Next up on the Bellator card is a great featherweight fight between Marlon Sandro vs. Alexandre Bezerra. This has fight of the night written all over it and it should be entertaining for the fans. Sandro comes into this fight with a record of 21-3. He has over 7 tkos and will look to keep this fight standing and land some devastating punches and kicks. Bezerra comes into this fight with a record of 13-1 and has over 8 submissions. He is dynamic on the ground and will look to impose his grappling skills on Sandro tonight.

Next up is the main event in a welterweight fight between champion Ben Askren and Douglas Lima. Both of these fighters have looked impressive as of late, and it will be an exciting title fight for the fans.

IMG_9408Lima comes into this fight with a record of 21-4 and trains with American Top Team. His is very dynamic off his back and has over 11 submissions. He also has knockout power in his hands, which can be seen with his most recent wins over Ben Saunders, Chris Lozano, and Terry Martin.

Askren comes into this fight the champion with an unbeaten record of 9-0. He trains under Roufusport and has some olympic caliber wrestling abilities. This has often gotten him victories, which can be seen with his wins over Lyman Good, Nick Thompson, and Jay Hieron. He will need to be on top of his game in this fight or he could very well ge submitted.

This fight is an interesting clash of styles and it will be interesting to see if Askren can stay unbeaten. This is arguably his toughest opponent to date, and some are even picking Lima via submission heading into the night.
