Billy Idol Memoir

The popular 1980’s punk rocker Billy Idol has turned a new leaf in life, coming to terms with his past in order to put down on paper his life of sex, drugs and rock & roll. That’s right, Billy Idol has decided to write a memoir about his life; the good, the bad and definitely the ugly. Idol will be writing his book basically on his own, and promises not to hold anything back according to Billy Idol’s website. The book isn’t due to hit bookshelves anytime soon, as these things take time, especially in Billy’s case – so many memories to sort through (can he really remember everything through the fog of drugs?). You can expect to see Billy’s book in 2011 or 2012.

Dancing with Myself’

Billy Idol’s book will be titled “Dancing with Myself” which is named after his hit single from the 80’.  Billy stated, “I’m going out on a limb here, so watch my back.” Like the song “Dancing with Myself”, “Well, there’s nothing to lose, and there’s nothing to prove.”

At this point, Billy Idol can write all the truth he wants about his life. His fame as a punk rocker has been overcome by the 21st century hip-hop artists who also struggle just to stay on top of such disposable music.

Billy Idol stated on his website, “Life gave me a golden key when I fell in love with rock n roll music,” said Idol. “It was the key to the answer of how to live and achieve your dreams. This world opened up to me with all the good opportunities but also every temptation—the drugs, the booze, the women, the 24-hour around-the-clock excess. And yet you have to write good songs to survive. Life had to be lived to do all that! Now I’m putting it all down in book form—from the heart.”
