Glenn Shadix is dead. Â The actor known for his gut-splitting comedic role as Otho in “Beetlejuice”, died this morning from a fall at his home in Birmingham, Alabama. Â Sources say the celebrated actor suffered from lack of mobility.
Glenn Shadix, 58, is dead, but he will perhaps be remembered for his grandiloquent, bombastic, and down-right snooty role as “Otho” the interior designer in the film, “Beetlejuice”.
However, Glenn Shadix, before his death, had appeared in many other film and television shows, and was once considered “the ubiquitous” actor. Â Nonetheless, his role in “Beetlejuice” solidified his role as a serious, bona fide actor who cared deeply about his work in film and televison.
He did a voice-over as the mayor in another Tim Burton directed film, “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
Glenn Shadix, the Bessemer native, was confined to a wheel chair, and had trouble getting around. Â At some point, this morning, he fell and struck his head, according to the Birmingham News in Alabama. Â The resulting injuries claimed his life.
Glenn Shadix was dead.
“He was having mobility problems, and he was in a wheelchair,” Susan Gagne, Shadix’s sister, said. “It looks like he fell and hit his head in the kitchen, and that’s the cause of death.”
Glenn Shadix retired just a few years ago, and decided to relocate to Alabama to be among family and friends. Â He resided in a condo in Birmingham for the last four years before he was pronounced dead.
Although Glenn Shadix is dead, he will be missed, and his legacy will live on as timeless treasures.
