Black Eyed Peas Announce Tour Dates

When the Black Eyed Peas helped Oprah Winfrey kick off her 24th season in September, they did so in extraordinary BEP style – with perhaps the world’s largest single-city flash mob to date. Over 20,000 people filled Chicago’s Michigan Avenue and danced to a specially written Oprah version of the band’s hit “I Gotta Feeling.” With spectacles like that in their arsenal, the BEP’s upcoming tour is sure to entertain. Perhaps a reprise of the event will even happen when the Black Eyed Peas perform in Chicago on March 13.

Dominating the Billboard Hot 100 for most of the year with their two smash singles, “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling,” the band topped the charts for a record-setting 26 weeks. Supporting the multi-platinum release, The E.N.D. (the Energy Never Dies), the BEP will play Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas to close out 2009. Those shows are a preview of the 2010 world tour which marks the band’s first U.S. run since 2006.

If their recent performance on the American Music Awards is any indication, Fergie, will.i.am, and the boys are all in fine form and ready to conquer the globe with their most ambitious stage production to date. The show seeks to replicate a hot dance party vibe, complete with guest DJs spinning turntables, in what they are calling a “feast for the senses.”

The North American leg of the tour kicks off in Atlanta on February 4 and wraps in Vancouver on April 11. As part of the itinerary, the three-time Grammy Award-winning Black Eyed Peas will play Boston, Denver, Des Moines, Nashville, Kansas City, and more.
