The Black Friday 2012 countdown is on, with sales and deals already underway by several retailers online. Amazon and Walmart have each launched special online promotions weeks ahead of the action Black Friday date, in an effort to start attracting customers. Here’s the latest on their offers.
The Countdown to Black Friday deals week started today at the Amazon.com website, and features a variety of products for customers to browse through and purchase ahead of the holiday shopping rush. Among the featured categories were video games, watches, gifts for him, computers & accessories, and cell phones with accessories. Among some of the deals shown were pre-order offers for upcoming video games, and up to 55 percent off certain movies or TV discs. Men’s watches were up to 70 percent for a fall clearance special, and there were laptops for as much as 20 percent off or more. The site is also promoting a deal of the day today on office electronics as well as multiple “Lightning Deals” for customers to check out.
Meanwhile, I4U news reports that Walmart is looking to counter Amazon once again, as they try to grab customers’ attention and money away. The company has started its own promotion today called “Ultimate Online Specials sale.” Among these deals is the $179 32-inch Sceptre 720p HDTV, as well as a $359 Sony PS3 Ultimate Bundle and a $79 7-inch tablet deal. Walmart is likely trying to wow customers with deals like the latter, although Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD will probably be one of the top-selling gifts this holiday season in terms of tablets, along with Google’s Nexus 7, and the new iPad Mini.
It’s hard to believe that these sales are already starting up, but then again the weather outside is colder and Christmas is right around the corner. That means shoppers will soon be frantically trying to find those perfect gifts, but it’s quite possible that it can be done right now to beat the rush, thanks to Amazon and Walmart.
