Cissy Houston has thrown in the towel and granddaughter Bobbi Kristina Brown will receive mom Whitney Houston’s millions as initially defined in the late singer’s will. Cissy fought to have the will changed, fearing if Bobbi Kristina got her hands on that much money her life would be potentially cut short—just the way Whitney Houston’s was.
According to a report from TMZ, both Bobbi Kristina and her grandmother are okay with the decision, but since Whitney’s plan for the disbursement of funds to Bobbi Kristina is unchanged, it certainly sounds like Cissy fought a losing battle.
Bobbi Kristina will receive 10 percent of about $20 million when she turns 21. She gets just under 25 percent, which will amount to about $4 million, when she turns 25. The remainder of the money will be paid out in full to her at age 30.
Cissy Houston and daughter-in-law Pat Houston are co-executors of Whitney Houston’s estate. Both women filed for a change in the payout plan, fearing Bobbi Kristina didn’t have the maturity and foresight needed to manage the kind of money she will receive at such a young age.
What do you suppose made Cissy Houston give up the fight? Did Bobbi Kristina agree to have her grandmother hold some of her money once it is disbursed?
Does it seem to you like Bobbi Kristina Brown, who is purportedly engaged to her ‘sort-of’ stepbrother Nick Gordon, is responsible enough to take on the responsibility of that kind of an inheritance? It certainly sounds like Cissy and Pat Houston had the right idea. Why did it end without a change? Was Whitney Houston’s will an ironclad document?
