Bones‘ seventh season featured some happiness for the characters, but that’s going to change in the eighth season. With everything going on, it’s a darker season, and that means drama coming for some of the couples.
Season 8 Spoilers
One of the bonus episodes coming up is going to introduce a new woman in Sweets’ life, an agent played by Danielle Panabaker. Executive producer Stephen Nathan previews that and the “is love enough?” theme of the season in the video below. So if you’ve been a fan of Sweets and Daisy’s relationship, now might be the time to start worrying. Creator Hart Hanson told Entertainment Weekly, Sweets has “been with Daisy a long time, and he was very young. He’s outgrowing a lot of thing,” and Nathan teased, “there’s a little bit of chemistry there.”
The two meet when Sweets ends up being put in the field with her because Booth “is not allowed into the field” at this time. So while Panabaker’s character “initially resents being put on assignment with a psychologist,” that’s going to change. In fact, Hanson is “ready for a little backlash”: After 8 seasons of Bones, we know where our audience is going to come from and at what volume.” That certainly makes it seem like Sweets and Daisy’s time together could have an end date. Those two do sometimes have a tendency to be too cute, and it would be interesting to see how Sweets acts in a new relationship. This might give them the chance to explore that, but it would still be unfortunate to see their relationship end after everything they’ve been through.
Also coming up is an episode with “a hit man who uses bombs,” according to Hanson. Nathan previews “SO much stuff blows up!” That should be one explosive episode, and it’s slated to air “early in the season.” It’s something to look forward to, especially since by then, you assume Booth and Brennan will be back together at work (and at home) and doing what they do best: catching the bad guys.
