‘Born This Way’ Set to Hit Million-Dollar Sales Mark in Opening Week

Lady Gaga’s highly-anticipated Born This Way is on track to break the $1 million sales mark in its first week, having been released just last Monday, May 23!

The initial projections for the album put Lady Gaga’s newest album – with the hit title track single – at about 800,000. With Amazon promoting the album, however, partnering with Gaga to sell the entire album for just 99 cents initally, those figures shot to an estimated 1.15 million! Holy cow!

With the tremendous success of Born This Way in the past six days since its release, Lady Gaga will join the likes of Taylor Swift (whose Speak Now sold over a million copies its first week in the fall) as entertainers who can go platinum in (less than) a week!

While it’s no surprise that Lady Gaga was able to command such high sales, with her superstar status and the movement that’s gone alongside the release of Born This Way, it remains to be seen if the album lives up to the hype, especially given the mixed reviews that have come with the release of “Judas.”

What do you think of the album? Of her newer singles from it?
