A suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing is identified only as a Saudi Arabian national, and is presently under guard at an undisclosed Boston hospital.
According to a report from the New York Post, the suspect is 20 years old.
The man was caught approximately two hours after bombs exploded near the finish line in the Copley Plaza section of Boston. It’s uncertain if he was injured during the explosions or as part of his apprehension.
Boston Police have also uncovered surveillance video that shows someone bringing backpacks to the area where the explosions took place.
This kind of havoc is unusual for Boston. People there have long felt safer than those in New York or L.A. It is unfathomable that the peace in this northeastern city has been shattered–and on Patriot’s Day. The marathon is a tradition–not just for runners, but for families whose children have the day off from school. Many families travel into the city to watch the runners cross the finish line.
It will be very interesting to learn more about the Saudi Arabian national being held on suspicion of the Boston Marathon bombings. Reports vary right now as to the number of people injured and dead. Hopefully those numbers stop climbing.
